33 Men and 3 Women confirmed dead in Ikoyi building collapse

It has been confirmed that 36 people has died in the building collapse that happened at Ikoyi.

The death reports of the building collapse that happened at Ikoyi, Lagos state stands at 36 to which are 33 men and 3 women. The 21-storey building which is located on Gerrard Road in highbrow Ikoyi, reached the ground on Monday, Ist November, 2021 at around 2pm.

Amongst the 36 now confirmed dead, 33 are men and 3 are women.

It has ever since been believed that most of the victims are construction workers.

There is currently an ongoing Rescue operations happening four days after.

The developer of the collapsed property is believed to be among those trapped beneath the wreckage.

On Wednesday being November 3, the Governor of Lagos state Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced that they have been 9 survivors.

An information desk has been set outside the collapsed property by the Lagos state Government.

Friends and families of the loved ones who were in the property when it collapsed, would subsequently be directed to a morgue where they can identify their loved ones for their respective burial and closure.

The General Manager of the Lagos State has been suspended by the Governor Sanwo-Olu. Building Control Agency (LASBCA) in the person of Mr. Gbolahan Oki, and a panel has been set up to investigate circumstances that has led to the building’s collapse.

The governor has believed that mistakes were made from all sides.
