Franco-German coach has gotten what many believes he deserves for the poor performance of the Nigerian Football federation (NFF). Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr sacked!
NFF has sacked the German coach, Gernot Rohr with immediate effect and has appointed Mr Augustine Eguavoen, its technical director as the new technical adviser of the super Eagles on interim basis. It was confirmed on Sunday night by the NFF that Rohr’s contract has been terminated which brings almost a month of spectaculation to an end.
The NFF had denied sacking Gernot as of November 18, 2021. In an official statement. This was said by Amaju Pinnick.
In more than three weeks later, being yesterday night, the officially sacked the coach after guiding the super eagles to the final round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
“The relationship between the Nigeria Football Federation and Mr Rohr has come to an end,” the NFF made it known to the public in an official statement.
“We remain thankful to him for his services to the Super Eagles and Nigeria.”
His biggest achievements was qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and leading the country to a third-place finish at the last AFCON which was held in Egypt, 2019.
Meanwhile, country’s football governing body also confirmed the appointment of former international and current Technical Director, Augustine Eguavoen as the interim with immediate effect.
