The Vice President of Nigeria Yemi Osinbajo has revealed to the public his opinion about unity in Nigeria. He said that Yoruba, Igbo and the Northerners are not better off on their own.

This was as he stated that Nigeria is on its best as one nation, “this is how we will remain strong and be able to face the world” -he Said.

This was made known during an interactive session with top officials of Nigerian’s high commission in the United kindom held at the Abuja House residence of the commissioner in London. The media and Publicity’s Senior Special Assistant to the Vice president, Laolu Akande, made it known to the public in a statement titled ” United as one, Nigeria will overcome present challenges before them, says Osinbajo

He urges citizens at home and diaspora to promote the message of one Nigeria. Noting that “anybody that looks at the way Nigeria operates would recognise that the country is better off in this system, and that is the true fact.  Yoruba is not better off on it’s own, Igbos are not better off on their own, the North is not better off on its own. We are better off as one nation, one Nigeria. that is why we are waxing strong and that is why we can face the world. Everywhere in the world today, people are coming together to form stronger units, they are not breaking up, this is not the time to break up, united we stand.”

He continues – “If you read the economics of smaller nations, you will see that they are looking for possible ways on how they can become stronger by aligning with other nations. How does a country with all the potentials and everything that we have, actually think that the best way is to break up?”

Still speaking, the Vice President explained that:

we reside to a point in time in our history where we have security challenges, economic challenges, and if you talk about security, there are so many dimensions to it.”

“If you look carefully, all of these could happen to any government and I think we are in the very best position to solve the problems that we face today.”

He further explained that the security challenges of the country did not show up in one day “but it is the government, the people, the men and women that will handle them.”
