Rema Biography: Early life
Divine Ikubor was given birth to inĀ a Christian family in Benin City, Nigeria. He grew up with love for music. He was already singing and rapping while he was in secondary school. He attained his primary and secondary school education at Ighile Group of Schools located in Edo State.

Rema Career
On exactly 2018, Rema posted a viral freestyle on Instagram to D’Prince‘s track “Gucci Gang”. The post captured the attention of the musician D’Prince who flew him to Lagos to offer a record deal to the young talent. Rema, however signed a record deal with D’Prince’sĀ Jonzing World which is a subsidiary of Mavin Records, in 2019. He went furtherĀ to release his self-titled debut EP Rema in the year 2019, which skyrocketed to number 1 on Apple Music Nigeria.
On exactly 21 May 2019, Jonzing World, and Mavin‘s released the music video of “Dumebi”, which was a major breakout song from his self-titled EP, featuring a cameo appearance from Diana Eneje. The video was however, directed by Ademola Falomo and currently has 50 million views on YouTube and still counting.

On exactly May 2021, Rema made it known to the public that he will be calling his sound “Afrorave”, which happens to be a subgenre of Afrobeats with influences of Arabian and Indian music which has led to him having one of the strongest fanbase in the country known as Ravers .

In December 2018, Rema signed to to the record label,Ā Mavin Records. Having Rema on the list was however, considered a big feat. D’Prince described Rema as a craftsman whose work needed to be heard by the whole world. Rema was discovered by popular music star, D’Prince and wrote songs for the record for a while until D’Prince officially introduced the young boy to his brother, Don Jazzy.
On exactly 22 March 2019, Rema was publicized as the latest addition to Mavin Records where he was called the future of Afrobeats. After Rema has signed a record deal with the Jonzing World, in 2019, he released his debut EP Rema.
Rema released his debut album entitled Rave & Roses on March 25, 2022. The album includes sixteen 16 tracks and good features from 6lack, Chris Brown, AJ Tracey, and Yseult. The album charted 10 songs on the Billboard US Afrobeats Chart following its debut week.

On exactly 19thĀ October 2019, Rema won the Next Rated awardĀ and was nominated for Viewer’s Choice at the 13th edition of TheHeadies.
On the 12the day of January 2020, he received the Soundcity MVP Awards for best new artist. On the15th day of June 2020, Rema was nominated as the Best Viewers Choice: International Act on the 2020 BET Awards. He was nominated on the awards alongside top musicians, Burna Boy and Wizkid, they were the only Nigerian Artistes nominated for the awards edition of 2020.

Rema is a supporter and fan of the football club Manchester United F.C.
On 28 September 2020, Rema tweeted accusations against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the death of his father who was once a Justice.
