The United kingdom is ready to remove Nigeria and 10 other countries from travel red list. This will take effect on Wednesday from 4am
From earlier post – UK promises to stick to its travel ban, as Nigeria threatens toretaliate, Uk banned Nigeria from travels into the country. This caused a lot of discomfort to Nigeria so they threatened to also ban UK from entering the country.
The British government gave a positive response to this by promising to remove the ban.
The British government has earlier placed Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe on its travel ban following the outbreak of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, this was done on December 4th.
The red list was a precaution to prevent the further spread of the virus.

The UK gvt. Said earlier that the ban would be reviewed on the 20th of December but later announced the removal of the ban on Tuesday. “The virus has spread widely and the rules are now less effective” said the UK health Secretary Sajid Javid.
“Whilst we will maintain our temporary testing measures for international travel, we will be removing all 11 countries from the travel red list effective from 4am tomorrow morning,” he added
“As always, we keep all our travel measures under review and we may impose new restrictions should there be a need to do so to protect public health,” he said on Twitter.
