US, UK, Europe and Canada shuts down boarders to 7 countries over the new covid 19 variant.
Restriction on travels and migration will be implemented by the US. South Africa and Seven other southern African Countries were restricted in order to contain the spread of the new covid19 Variant.
Starting from Monday, the only people allowed to travel from the region are US citizens and residents.
A similar flight ban was imposed by the UK and EU. Canada has also taken up similar measures.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the new variant was described to be of “major concern” as they named it Omicron.
The restricted countries include; South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Mozambique and Malawi.

The listed countries above will be blocked in order to mirror early moves taken by EU. The ban goes into effect on Monday.
The president of the United States has named the move a ” precautionary measure” taken until more discoveries about the new variant is properly stated.
Canada is also on a plan to shut down boarders to people that have visited the listed countries above. Foreign citizens will also be banned if they have been to the countries for the past 14 days.
The Omicron Variant was first reported from south Africa on 24th November.
Scientist said that this is the most dangerous mutated version yet which means that covid 19 vaccines wont have an effect on it, as this variant has grown to the extent that it penetrates blood cells.
